Sheila Bristow is Music Director & Organist at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Bainbridge Island. Previous appointments include Assistant Music Director & Associate Organist at Blessed Sacrament Church, Seattle and Organist & Choirmaster at Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Kenmore.
Ms. Bristow received her MM in organ performance from the University of Washington, where she studied organ and harpsichord with Carole Terry, and church music with J. Melvin Butler. Her conducting experience includes concerts with Northwest Chamber Chorus, Pacifica Choirs, and Sine Nomine. Sheila has sung with Ave Renaissance Women's Choir, Choral Arts NW, Women's Compline Choir of St. Mark's, and Women of St. James Schola. Her vocal training has included private lessons and workshops (Tallis Scholars Summer School).
Sheila served on the New Music Committee for the American Guild of Organists' 2022 national convention, and is Past Dean of the Tacoma chapter. She is currently a member of the Commission on Liturgy and the Arts for the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia.
Sheila was one of the artists on the Byrd Ensemble's 2013 recording of music by Arvo Pärt , which was reviewed by Gramophone Magazine: "The Berlin Mass also receives a wonderfully crystalline performance, with organ registrations very sensitively chosen by Sheila Bristow".
